WINES
Winemaking
The harvests take place usually throughout the month of September. The grapes are picked manually, placed in 20 kg boxes, and vinified separately. Each wine ferments in temperature-controlled, stainless- steel vats and aged in first or second fill French oak barrels for different periods, according to the labels to which the wine is intended.
CHARACTERISTICS OF OUR WINE HARVESTS IN DOURO SUPERIOR:
2014 – Mild temperatures, resulting in fresher and more elegant wines.
2015 – Hottest temperatures of a pre-harvest and harvest period. Riper and darker fruits. More concentrated wines.
2016 – Resembled 2014, with little rain. Wines with fresher and redder fruit. Less concentrated and full-bodied in the mouth, but more elegant and fresher.
2017 – Even hotter than 2015, our wines are still resting.
2018 – Temperate climate between 2015 and 2016. Concentration and elegance are more balanced.
